"When the Lady Smiles"

The elderly Prime Minister headed for the President's office with the
latest communique from the States in hand.

He was surprised to not see her at desk as she'd more or less camped
out in office since the first attacks from Iran began.  Law
enforcement and the Army had been mobilized fast as a precaution even
though it wasn't thought of Romania being a target.  After all, never
hurt to be cautious.

What meagre intelligence discovered was promptly forwarded to the
respectives, and the traditional letters of condolences sent.

Antanasia was in the small restroom attached, splashing some cold
water on her face and still clad in the nightshirt and sleep sweats
she'd worn when she was woken with the news of the attacks.

"Well, old friend?", she asked as she stepped out, towelling herself off.

"The Americans have spoken.", he said as he handed the paper over.

Antanasia read it, frowning thoughtfully.  While she did agree that
tempers were still flared, to not start acting against Iran would be a
mistake since it opened up the opportunity for further attacks.
Granted Romania was still the little fish in the global scale, this
was the chance to show the potential piranah she felt they could be.

"Simu, call the Cabinet.  We must discuss these turns of events.", she
said as she looked for the spare change of clothes she kept as a
backup.

--Some hours later--

Parliament was in full mutter as Antanasia shared the news from the
American communique.  She did omit some of the phrasing to get the
gist along.

"...And in conclusion, I do feel we too must stand against this once
again assault from the Middle East as our ancestors once did against
the Turks.  But as to the contribution, I leave that to your
decision.", she said as she finished.

It was a rather fast decision considering the usual long windedness of
Parliament dealings.  Word was sent to NATO that Romania would most
certainly contribute what it could to any actions taken against Iran.
The location of the country made it well situated for any gathering of
forces and refueled deployment against Iran, and the approval was
given for a more private communiqued offer.

Antanasia composed the latter in private and sent along encrypted
protocols to China.

Madame President.

Word shall soon arrive to NATO that Romania will commit forces and
resources towards any actions taken against Iran for these dastardly
assaults against the civilized world.  However, in light of history
towards the actions of that region, Romania offers to you whatever
further aid you may require in dealing with these people in the manner
they are accustomed to.  My nation's history is steeped in having to
deal with their depredations over the centuries unlike the others and
we have resources that would help your strong nation in accomplishing
this goal.
