The expert panel on trade and copyright laws is set up. As with
anything lawyers do, it must be argued over. So it'll take 4 months.
Surprisingly, the Ministry of State is getting cooperation from others
on the hackers...But that cooperation is pulling up a lot of dead ends
- Little fish who don't know who's organizing things.
The BAg and NAAS are setup, will be ready on August 15th for autumn
plantings. Price controls are believed necessary, but a black market
quickly grows.
Import deals are readily established, though China is paying a 20-30%
premium.
BST and NAST are established on paper, and begin research activity
next week. However, it's a project scientists warn may take years if
not decades - the only thing everybody is sure of is that it'll take a
long time to see results.
PLA, PLAN, and PLAAF stand ready.
Pakistan still says no, they don't want to get involved. Iran says
heeeeeeell no to the counterproposal.
Armenia is hemming. Answer's still no, but that may be a result of
their being nervous of being Iran's next target. Ya can't blame em,
they've been through one genocide the world ignores.
The Iranian evidence is as clear as the air in LA - not very.

Armee d'Air engineers, working at record speed as the French public
demands scalps (and are perhaps sated by the resignation of virtually
all of SNECMA's board, their remaining salaries for the year being
dedicated to eating the cost of any solution), present the President
with some options as regards the Rafale:
First, the Rafale can be grounded until a redesign and remanufacture
can occur, a process which would take 3 weeks if SNECMA is allowed to
throw the 35-hour workweek out the window.
Second, Engines used in the F18 can be bought from Pratt and Whitney -
the P&W F404 was used on the Rafale in development. This would take 2
weeks to complete the minor redesign and testing required. The engines
would have to be imported from the US, a politically humbling move,
and a very limited supply of engines would be available. In addition,
the F404 would limit the Rafale's effectiveness slightly - but it is a
-working- engine.
SHAPE warmly welcomes the return of French planners after half a
century, and planning for a NATO operation in the Caucasus - unnamed
as of yet - is proceeding apace.
The nations of the European Union and France's NATO allies agree in
principle that the Iranians can not be allowed to annex Azerbaijani
territory. Support for economic and diplomatic sanctions is wide
spread, however France's seemingly beligerent stance turns off several
key governments to the idea of military intervention. The European
Union itself has never fought a war, and with the recent American-Sino
crisis still fresh in many minds, most worry about having sufficient
force to respond to threats 'at home'. There is stiff resistance
against the involvement of military forces under the banner of the
European Union that is unlikely to be overcome, however it's rather
apparent that nobody will move to stop France from acting militarily
on her own or in concert with willing allies.

Williams' return from vacation was met with a t shirt being sold saying
'he's tanned rested and ready'.
In Chicago cooler heads did prevail, basically when Daley tried to get
an arrest warrant for the judge in question and the United States
Marshal for Illinois the State's attorney informed him not only no but
hell no. And the Superintendent of the Chicago Police department
politely informed him that if the mayor made it an order his resignation
would be on Daley's desk within half an hour. Daley backed down.
The Azerbaijan situation has resulted in protests, anti Iran for their
'warmongering' anti US for leading the charge, anti military
intervention, and in the city of Berkley California, members of Code
Pink have filed an arrest warrant with the Berkley City Police for
President Williams on charges of 'war crimes'. Police spokesmen were
heard to remark, "we'll get right on that after all the other crime."
US forces are moving in the area with strong popular support, the peace
keeping aspect appeals to liberals, while the kicking ass part appeals
to conservatives. The US/Chinese agreement on UN resolution has
resulted in comics calling Williams and Hung the odd couple of the year.
However with US/Sino support the resolution is expected to pass
The pistol caliber test has been announced and everything from a .22 to
the .50 AE are run through their paces with the winner being the .45
caliber round, for stopping power in a ball, since the Geneva
conventions prohibit hollow point ammunition.
The scheduled reservation talks prove to be quite popular, with Williams
getting some good points for actually stepping up on the issue, the
money coming in helps with improving the roads, and the hospitals.
Military doctors are a welcome sight, however their temporary status
does not help with expanding preventative care, and the issues on the
reservation. Some of the major issues including housing with no
runnign water, or even internet access. Alcoholism, drug addiction, and
a lack of jobs, unless you want to work at a casino or selling cigarettes.

ECONOMIC INDICATORS
NOTE: Initial indicators were gleaned from as recent sources as
possible, for the most recent term possible (annualized). In some
cases, the numbers used are published estimates, but the English-
speaking nations' data is more or less right from the source.
Depression: Economic forces retracting uncontrollably and at a
dangerous pace with little end in sight.
Recession: Economic forces retracting, but more shallow than
Depression and more controlably. Sometimes necessary and part of
regular economic trends, although prelonged.
Revision: Economic forces retracting slightly and short term,
associated with economic systems refitting to accomodate new
industries, concentrations, etc.
Zero: No movement one way or the other.
Low: Comparatively low Economic growth/activity. (miniscule to about
2%, depending)
Good: Average economic activity (ranging from 2%-5% normally)
High: Above average performance (Greater than 5%) Sometimes
dangerous if in excess of 8% continuously.
