"You know, I was always peeved that the Tories let the HBC be sold to an
American investor.  Such an important piece of our history was potentially
lost in that sale.  Not everything is about money."  commented Pat Goldman
on lunch break.  She was sitting on the embankment behind her office with
Jacques le Mieux, the Industry Minister.

He had to take a few seconds to find the right words; "Pat, would I love to
see the HBC back in Canadienne hands too, but that could be a pretty... how
do you say?  lengthy, process."  Jacques had a pretty heavy Quebecois
accent, so she had to work a bit to get at what he was saying.

"Well then better get started don't you think?"

He laughed.  "You're serious?"

"Dam straight I am.  Why do you think I volunteered for this position?  This
was one of the things I had my head set on.  I want to see it a private
company, but we need to place restrictions on what companies are for sale in
this country.  Businesses of historical/cultural, economic, or strategic
importance should be protected from foreign takeovers."  She had been
talking faster and faster, and ended breathless.

Silence for a couple minutes after her little outburst...

"Alright...  Well we shall give this idea to the PM and the team, see how
they think of this."
