[War_ooc] [War] Russia: "Winter's End"

There's some merit to that idea. But:
One: I'm not sure it's as difficult as made out to be. Can we at
least -try- it for a week or two? If it really doesn't work, we can
say "February was a short month, nothing happened" or something.
Two: I don't want to tie us into RL the calendar much, so that we can
stop and pound on things more without being hurried along by the flow
of time IRL. One of the problems WAR has had is that we can often be
bowled over by the passage of time as posts take a while to write. I
think it'd encourage better-quality writing if we don't link ourselves
to the RL flow of time.
Three: We're going to confront this issue whether it's March or
January, in that it's just not easy to put out a decent post in an
hour or two (in my experience) on most occasions. Perhaps I'm more
sensitive to this because I *do* play the US, and the US is more date-
sensitive in terms of "X has to be done by Y date" (the inauguration,
for example, *had* to happen on January 20 under the 22nd Amendment,
the budget has to be submitted the first week of February (if I
remember right), so on and so forth). Better, I think, to decouple
Game time from RL time at the beginning than to leave it as something
we bicker over.
(It's already hard enough to play the US, at least let me have the
chance to pace myself!)
Four: Often, there's a lot of reasons why the WR slips from the GMs'
minds.
Linking the WR to time gives everybody a huge motivator to make sure
the WR gets out regularly, which isn't easy. The WR, to be honest,
shouldn't just be a GM thing to worry about. The playerbase should
also keep an eye on it; whether it be reading the things closely (to
digress for a moment, don't just skim it. I, personally, weigh what I
write, and I often try to leave subtle clues and hints in the WR,
particularly when I've seemingly left you with impossible situations;
I don't, in fact, give people impossible situations. I just am not the
type to spoonfeed you. Plus...We do work on them, argue over em. At
least read what we write.), reminding us to do them (especially
important when I start voc rehab), or just looking for holes in our
thought patterns. Or, even better, helping us out occasionally. If you
have the skills, someone to help us with maps, doing really good maps,
is -always- a good thing, for example.
While I may love my GF, I do not intend to just agree with her. She
knows this, but I figure I'll state it publicly. If I ever seem to be
just folding on an argument, I hope you'll all smack me.:)

First attempt at sending any mail to WAR...
Why not let the January date as having happened in January, then simply kick
the game to March after John's post?
